Weilin Ju, Baoxin Yang Dr. Dean He Commerce and Economic Development November 27, 2016 How does immigration affect the United States economy Abstract: Foreign-born workers have dramatically increased in the Unites States due to immigration. How does immigration affect the United States economy can be researched by finding the difference in productivity and income per worker between states which have large inflows of foreign-born worker and those without many immigrants. Official data shows that states with large immigrant inflows have higher productive capacity because they can attract foreign and domestic investment. With higher productivity capacity, workerââ¬â¢s wage would also soar. However, some people point out that foreign-born workers are stealing work opportunity from local workers; actually, there is no evidence to confirm that. Recent years, more and more foreign people immigrate to the United States by a variety of approaches. How does immigration affect United States economy is now a hot topic discussed by economists and ordinary citizens. Many people believe that foreign-born workers are thieves who steal their work opportunities; meanwhile, many people point out that these immigrants are essential for United States society because many of them are doing the job that local people are not willing to do such as cleaner and sewer workers.
